this is an ancient earthwork in Carthamartha woods in the bend of the Tamar where the Tamar and the Inny converge. It is very distinctive. Oil drum in foreground. Hello! I used to live at Carthamartha - my parents, Tanya and Nigel, are still there. Dad has always maintained that the name comes from a corruption of the words "Castle on the Tamar" (Kastell war an Tamar in Cornish, I think).
