a seed is born

himalayan balsam spreads its seeds by exploding the seed pod when it is touched. The fragment is the remnant of the coiled spring after it has released the seed pod. Great fun, but very invasive.

  1. We walked along from the ford towards Oldmill this afternoon and there was lots of himalayan balsalm. It has really taken hold. I got given some seeds years ago but have cautiously left them in the envelope in which they arrived.

Spike had a very good swim and Tess tried to dig up a tree.
