more catkins (nothing else wild is out yet except snowdrops, of which we have blogged enough for this year)

  1. it's a mine chimney, probably it is a flue for the arsenic fumes created when when processing the copper ore. It is relatively intact, and surprisingly difficult to distinguish from the surrounding woodland even when you know where it is.
