  2. St George, a Roman soldier from Anatolia, slayed the dragon and is the patron saint of England. The English are a very reticent lot, and unlike our celtic cousins we have never made much of our national day. Now, in the face of ever increasing nationalism around us, there is a reawakening of the English dragon and an increasing desire to fly the flag of St George (a red cross on a white background).
